Ceramics Workshop: Techniques and Practices
Thursdays, Sept 12 – Oct 24 2019
Ceramics Workshop will provide general instruction and studio practice for all levels of ceramic experience. For beginning students, this workshop is an introduction to a wide variety of techniques in creating ceramic work. Instructor lead presentations will acquaint the participant to the ceramic vocabulary and to artists working in the medium. Students will learn and complete projects in hand and coil building, slab construction and extrusion as well as wheel throwing. The more advanced students can work independently with the benefit of instructor guidance.

Please bring the following to the first day of instruction:

Personal sculpting tools (small selection of tools will be made available in class)

Plastic bucket (helps with carrying tools, Small round sponge

Newspaper

Rags (to moisten and cover work at end of sculpting sessions)

Trash bag / plastic wrap to cover work
Recommended Material list:

Apron to protect clothing from clay

Bamboo or metal shish kabob sticks

Drawing paper and drawing materials (for initial sketching and planning stage)

Additional clay can be purchased in class (25lbs. bag of clay $10) first bag is included
